Baby, You are Loved
Your best friend just told you she was pregnant. It is so exciting, word spreads quickly and everyone starts to ask you when the shower will be. Wow, hadn't thought of that, but it is traditionally the best friend's "duty".
One of the first things to decide on is a
theme. You could always ask the soon-to-be mom if she has a preference, or talk to the rest of your friends and get some ideas that way. If you are deciding the theme and don't really want "mom" to know be sure to think about her likes and dislikes, or any hints that she may have dropped.
Now that you have picked a theme its time to consider how low-key or elaborate you want to go with the decorating. You may want to try a new twist on an old tradition; instead of getting gift baskets for mom and baby, give each guest a personalized gift basket. Include something uniquely special for each guest to show your appreciation of their love and support.
Having a big bash? Be sure you include lots of party games and door prizes. Even the food can be done in a fun manner. How about a build your own sundae buffet? After all, the mom-to-be needs no excuse to splurge and it might be rude if you didn't indulge with her! If you know that some of your guests are watching their weight consider a cute baby carriage piƱata and fill it with candy and small party favors.
The most important part of a baby shower is making sure mom has lots of great memories that she can pass on to her baby, possibly creating a tradition, or just showing her child how much they are loved.
