Simple Baby Shower Luncheon
Sometimes, all an expecting mother will want to do is relax before her new bundle of joy arrives. Perhaps she is just getting out of work for her maternity leave or she has been busy trying to settle things in at home before the baby arrives. In this case, the hustle and bustle of a gigantic baby shower with tons of guests may not be what she is into. You might want to think of toning things down a bit with a shower for immediate family and the closest of friends only for a luncheon. Certainly, you will not want to exclude everyone else from sharing in the joy of the baby. Some people will even have a nice shower for the baby after he or she arrives. This way, the mom can show off the little bundle while being able to mingle around with all of the guests to hear blessings and wishes. If you are looking to have a small luncheon affair for a baby shower, you can still pay attention to detail and have plenty of fun things for the guests in attendance to enjoy. Make some extra special favors that guests are sure to fall in love with on first sight. Because they are close friends and family members, they are going to need a special place to put their first picture of the baby. Purchase small, elegant frames for everyone, add a cute personalized cookie favor and tie with a ribbon. All of the guests are sure to have a wonderful time enjoying sandwiches and other snacks while talking with the mommy to be about her new baby on the way! Labels: baby-shower

Don't Give These Shower Gifts
If you're planning a baby shower, it's a good idea to let your attendees know some of the items you can use or register yourself so people can see what you have and what you don't or you might just wind up with of these gifts that left moms-to-be scratching their heads and wondering, "What were they thinking?". Bad Baby Gift #5 One new mother was opening presents at an office shower when she was shocked to find she'd been given a clock for her coming bundle of joy, with a plaque that was engraved congratulating the giver's parents on their 30th anniversary. Bad Baby Gift #4 A another shower, a mother to be got a gift that smelled funny. As she unwrapped the box, people began scooting backwards as the smell grew stronger and more unpleasant. Inside was a handmade protection talisman made of garlic, rosemary, catgrass and the herb valerian which has a strong odor not unlike sweaty human feet. Bad Baby Gift #3 One mother-to-be received the gift of a baby blanket that looked sweet and handmade. Upon unwrapping it, the mother-to-be discovered a large urine stain on the blanket. Needless to say, her delight in the gift was dampened just a little. Bad Baby Gift #2 One of the worst baby gifts we've heard of was one that was given to a woman at an office shower. Two of her co-workers got together and bought her baby a gift certificate to go to a local gun range and take lessons. Bad Baby Gift #1 The worst baby gift we found was an envelope given to a new mother was a collection of 3 gift certificates to get her hair done, her nails done, and a gift certificate at a local clothing store. However, her elation was short lived when she saw the gift certificates were made out to the person that had given the gift and they were dated for Christmas in years gone by and each one had expired.

Planning Baby's First Birthday Bash
For your baby's first birthday, she may not understand what all the fuss is about but she will have a great time at a small gathering of family and friends if you make sure to plan it with her limits in mind. Careful Planning One year old's can get overwhelmed pretty easy. To prevent your baby's first birthday bash from turning into a tear fest. Small and simple is the way to go. Invite just a few friends and grandparents if they are near enough. Try not to have more than two to three young friends over as more may be too much input for your little one. Go With Your Baby's Schedule Your baby probably already has a fairly predictable schedule. Try to plan your baby's birthday party in the afternoon after her morning nap and plan for the party to only last a couple of hours at the very most. Don't expect your baby to be overwhelmed at her presents. Many one year olds are more interested in the wrapping paper and smearing cake on their faces than many of the presents they receive. Immortalize the Day Take lots of pictures of your baby's first birthday. She's crossed a big milestone. Along with the precious photos of your little one with birthday cake in her and smeared across her face; you can also create a lasting memory through a special plate to hold her first birthday cake. It's a great way to remember her very special day.
