 Soothing Your Newborn

One thing many new parents joke about is when they bring their first baby home from the hospital, they felt a little lost. "Would be nice if the babies came with an owner's manual" joked one new mom.

Nothing is more upsetting to new parents than a new born that won't stop crying. Something is wrong but what? Before you feel like you're a bad parent out of the starting gate, remember that crying is the only way your baby has to communicate and it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. A good way to keep your newborn feeling safe and secure is to swaddle him. He just spent about nine months wrapped in the tight, constricted womb and that's how he feels the safest and most secure. When his legs and arms aren't wrapped he may feel vulnerable and this is the reason many newborns have difficulty sleeping.

Swaddling a baby is very easy, simply lay a blanket out in a diamond shape and lay the baby in the middle. Cross one side over the other and then tuck the excess in the fold. It's fast and easy to do and will normally work within seconds to quiet a fussy newborn. Remember to just make the swaddling secure but not too tight. You will learn quickly exactly what your own baby prefers.

If you are looking for a gift a mommy-to-be; a monogrammed blanket that she can use to swaddle her little one as well as keep as an heirloom gift is a wonderful idea. Getting the blanket monogrammed with her baby's name will show it was made with just her little precious one in mind and will make an outstanding gift.

Caring for a newborn can be frustrating and confusing at first, but all new parents agree - it's the single most rewarding job you'll ever have - being a mom or dad.

 Special Gifts for Mother's Day

Start thinking ahead for your Mother's Day gift this year, especially if your gift is for a mother-to-be or new mother that is officially to celebrate her first Mother's Day.

A mother-to-be will be thrilled with a special gift such as a belly casting kit. She can capture her belly in plaster and have a lasting memento of when her baby was growing and not here yet. Many women have their belly castings brushed with bronzing or other metallic glaze and then mounted. Most children find belly castings intriguing to look at when they are older.

Something just for the new mother when she's still expecting on Mother's Day is always welcome. A basket filled to the brim with things to make her feel gorgeous and feminine will be appreciated. Hot soaking baths are a no-no for pregnant women but they can still enjoy slathering on yummy lotions and relieving her aches and pains. Belly skin especially can benefit from frequent moisturizing as many women report fewer stretch marks when they keep their skin on their growing tummies liberally moisturized.

Another great gift you can give is yourself. No, it doesn't involve wrapping yourself up in a big bow, it simply means getting a little creative and on your computer or by hand, make a series of "coupons" for the new mother to use. They can range from baby sitting when she and her partner want to go have a worry free dinner out together or maybe a little house cleaning service as a clean house often goes by the wayside when there's a newborn in the house and sleep becomes a prime commodity.

There are so many ways you can show your affection and good wishes for a new mother or mother-to-be this coming Mother's Day,use these tips and design a Mother's Day gift she'll use and appreciate.

It is never to early to begin planning your big surprise for mom on Mother's Day. Whether you are shopping for your wife or mother, you are going to want to be sure that you give her something special that she is sure to cherish. While it is not always necessary to spend all of your paycheck on a gift for this holiday, it is certainly nice to splurge on your mom once in a while. After all, she is always there for you when you need her, whether it is for a healthy dose of encouragement or a little bit of wisdom from time to time.

The Little Pictures Keepsake Necklace is just right if you are buying for your mother or if you are a husband trying to find the perfect gift for the mother of your precious children. When it comes to quality, you just cannot beat the craftsmanship of this incredible piece of jewelry. You can have up to eight photographs added to the necklace, all spaced with your choice of birthstone crystals or semiprecious stones as spacers for each.

All you have to do is send along your choice of photographs via email and they will be transformed into a beautiful charm, complete with a special UV coating that is also waterproof so you can be sure that they will stand the test of time. Your mother or wife will be thrilled when she sees all of the photographs on each charm with a beautiful black and white tint reminiscent of days gone by.
